Sink repairs are very common due to the hard usage that sinks have to endure. Accidental drops of glass bottles, pots, pans, etc, can all cause chips and cracks to the surface of your sink. Things like using harsh cleaners and soaps will slowly erode the shiny surface of your sink, making dirt stick to it and compromising its top layer. I’ve been repairing sinks for years and can provide full resurfacing for your sink when necessary. All repairs are completed on-site, and a standard sink repair takes just 1-2 hours. You’ll be able to use your sink again 24 hours later, saving you time and money on having it replaced. It’s the most economical way to get a brand-new looking sink again without having to actually replace it. I offer a 12-month guarantee on all my sink repairs, and I’m fully insured. It won’t take long before your sink looks brand new again!
The most important part of a sink repair is accurately colour matching the new enamel paint to the shade of your sink. The colour matching is done by eye, mixing various tinters into the standard white enamel paint until it perfectly matches your sink. If the new paint doesn't match your sink perfectly, you will notice the repair. I’ve refined this specialised skill over many years of experience. Most sinks are white, but there is actually a significant variation in their exact shade of white. Different brands use different shades of white, and factors like age, usage, and exposure to chemicals or sunlight can all change the shade. It’s important to get an accurate colour match, and I’m very meticulous in doing so. If you opt for a full sink resurfacing, I’ll spray it with a brilliant white finish to make it look as good as new.
I always use professional-grade materials that aren't available at your local DIY store. I use only the highest quality bonder and enamel paint to ensure all repairs stand the test of time. I’ve relied on these materials for years, and they consistently create durable, top-quality repairs. Other companies may try to cut costs with cheaper materials, but that can lead to failed repairs and subpar results. I offer a 12-month guarantee on all my repairs, unless otherwise noted.
I begin a sink repair by applying a special bonder to the affected area and filling in the damage. Next, I colour match the new paint to your sink and apply another layer of bonder before spraying on the enamel. To ensure a flawless finish, I use a fine spray gun when applying the new surface, so the repair blends in perfectly.
The first step in any sink repair is assessing the damage to figure out the best solution. For minor chips or scratches, I can complete a quick chip repair in just 1-2 hours. If the damage is extensive and affects a large portion of the sink, resurfacing the whole sink would be the most effective solution. In the case of a large crack or hole, I can still perform a repair, but I may advise replacing the sink due to possible structural damage. In this case, if I do the repair, I wouldn’t be able to offer a guarantee on it. But this is the worst-case scenario.
The average sink repair takes only 1-2 hours. Replacing your sink would take much longer than this repair. Should you choose to resurface your sink, it will take about a day, as I must carefully mask off the surrounding room to prevent overspray. This process is still much quicker and cheaper compared to ripping out and replacing your sink. My work includes resurfacing antique sinks to restore their beauty and make them look like new. Antique sinks often have intricate detailing and unique features that modern sinks lack. If you have a sink that needs attention, I’m here to provide help.
Every repair I do is completed to a high standard, ensuring it lasts and blends in with regular use. If you shine a torch over the repair, you might spot something, but this is rarely done in regular use. A company that promises an invisible repair is likely not reputable, and they probably won’t be around for long.
Repairing your sink rather than replacing it will save you time, money, and is better for the environment. Repairing your sink helps cut down on waste and prevents more trash from going to the landfill.
I’ve been asked by customers if DIY Repair Kits are a good option for repairing their sinks. The problem with DIY Repair Kits is that the materials are of poor quality, leading to a repair that won't last. Getting a proper colour match is difficult with the basic tinter that comes with these kits. If you’re confident, you can certainly give it a try, but I’ll be here to do a professional repair whenever you need one.
How durable is a sink repair?
My sink repairs are all guaranteed for 12 months. Sink repairs should last for as long as the rest of the sink itself, and in the unlikely event that one of our repairs fails, it will do so within the first 12 months. The only time I can't offer a guarantee on a repair is if there is structural damage or extensive damage, and in this case, I'll make sure you know that I can't offer a guarantee before you go ahead with the repair. In these cases, I usually recommend replacing the sink, but if you prefer to keep your original sink, we can still help with the repair.
