Sink repairs are very common due to the hard usage that sinks have to endure. Accidental drops of glass bottles, pots, pans, etc, can all cause chips and cracks to the surface of your sink. Using abrasive cleaners or soaps can dull your sink’s surface, making it more prone to dirt build-up. I’ve been repairing sinks for years and can provide full resurfacing for your sink when necessary. All of my work is done in-situ, and a normal sink repair will only take about 1-2 hours! Your sink will be ready to use again in just 24 hours, saving both time and money compared to a full replacement. This is the most cost-effective way to make your sink look brand new without the need for replacement. I offer a 12-month guarantee on all my sink repairs, and I’m fully insured. Your sink will be as good as new in no time!
A crucial part of a successful sink repair is matching the new enamel paint to the exact colour of your existing sink. This process requires mixing tinters into white enamel paint by eye until an exact match to your sink’s colour is achieved. If the paint doesn’t match your sink exactly, you’ll be able to see the repair. Through years of experience, I’ve mastered this specialised skill in sink repairs. Even though white is the most common sink colour, the shade of white can vary widely. Different brands use different shades of white, and factors like age, usage, and exposure to chemicals or sunlight can all change the shade. I have to be very careful to get an accurate colour match whenever I do repairs. If you opt for a full sink resurfacing, I’ll spray it with a brilliant white finish to make it look as good as new.
I always use professional-grade materials that aren't available at your local DIY store. To guarantee long-lasting repairs, I’ve sourced the best quality bonder and enamel paint. Having used the same materials for many years, I know they work and create lasting high-quality repairs every time. Some companies use cheaper materials to save money, but this can result in repairs that don’t last and poor outcomes. I stand by my work with a 12-month guarantee on all repairs, unless specified otherwise.
The repair process starts with applying a special bonder to the damaged area and filling it in. After colour matching the new paint to your sink, I apply an additional layer of bonder before spraying on the new enamel. Using a fine spray gun to apply the new surface ensures the repair will blend in as seamlessly as possible.
The first step in any sink repair is assessing the damage to figure out the best solution. If the damage is just a few chips or scratches, I can handle it with a simple chip repair that takes only 1-2 hours. If the damage is greater and covers a larger area of the sink, it would be best to resurface the whole sink. In the case of a large crack or hole, I can still perform a repair, but I may advise replacing the sink due to possible structural damage. If I repair it in this situation, I can’t offer a guarantee. This is the worst-case scenario, though it’s rare.
Typically, my sink repairs take only 1-2 hours to complete. This is much faster than removing your sink and replacing it. Resurfacing your sink will take a full day, as I spend time masking the room to protect from any overspray. Again, this is still so much faster and cheaper than ripping out and replacing your sink. I’ve successfully restored many antique sinks, resurfacing them to look like new. Antique sinks typically feature intricate detailing that is not found on most modern sinks. If you have a sink that needs attention, I’m here to provide help.
I ensure all my repairs are completed to the highest standard, focusing on durability and making sure they aren’t visible with normal use. While it’s possible to see something with a torch, it’s not common to use one when you’re using the sink as intended. Any reputable repair company will not guarantee an invisible repair, so be cautious of those who do as they likely won’t last long.
By repairing your sink rather than replacing it, you'll save time, money, and reduce your environmental impact. You won’t be adding more waste to your local landfill site when you choose to repair and restore your sink.
I’ve been asked by customers if DIY Repair Kits are a good option for repairing their sinks. The problem with DIY Repair Kits is that the materials are of poor quality, leading to a repair that won't last. It is also very hard to get a true colour match with the basic tinter they supply. Feel free to try it yourself if you feel up to it, but I’ll be here for a professional repair when you’re ready.
How durable is a sink repair?
My sink repairs are all guaranteed for 12 months. A proper sink repair should last as long as the rest of the sink, and if one of our repairs fails, it will most likely happen within the first 12 months. The only time I can't offer a guarantee on a repair is if there is structural damage or extensive damage, and in this case, I'll make sure you know that I can't offer a guarantee before you go ahead with the repair. In these cases, I usually recommend replacing the sink, but if you prefer to keep your original sink, we can still help with the repair.
