Due to regular use, sinks often require repairs, especially after damage. Things like dropping glass bottles, pots, and pans can easily chip or crack your sink. Things like using harsh cleaners and soaps will slowly erode the shiny surface of your sink, making dirt stick to it and compromising its top layer. With extensive experience in sink repairs, I can also resurface your sink for full restoration when required. I do all my repairs on-site, and a typical sink repair only takes 1-2 hours. Your sink will be ready to use again in just 24 hours, saving both time and money compared to a full replacement. This is the most cost-effective way to make your sink look brand new without the need for replacement. All sink repairs come with a 12-month guarantee, and I’m fully insured. Your sink will be as good as new in no time!
For a flawless sink repair, it’s essential to match the new enamel paint to the existing sink colour. This process must be done by eye on the day of your repair, mixing various tinters into the standard white enamel paint until I get an exact match to your sink. When the new paint isn’t a perfect match, the repair will be visible. This highly specialised skill has been developed over years of hands-on work. Even though most sinks are white, there is a huge variation in what shade of white your sink may be. The shade of white your sink has depends on the manufacturer, its age, usage, and factors like sun damage or chemical discoloration. It’s important to get an accurate colour match, and I’m very meticulous in doing so. If you opt for a full sink resurfacing, I’ll spray it with a brilliant white finish to make it look as good as new.
All my repairs are done with professional-grade materials that are not available at standard DIY stores. I’ve sourced the best quality bonder and enamel paint to ensure all my repairs last. I’ve trusted these materials for years, and they always produce long-lasting, high-quality results. Some other companies cut corners by using cheaper materials, but this could lead to repairs failing and poor results. I offer a 12-month guarantee on all my repairs, unless otherwise noted.
The repair process starts with applying a special bonder to the damaged area and filling it in. After colour matching the new paint to your sink, I apply an additional layer of bonder before spraying on the new enamel. I use a fine spray gun to apply the new surface, which ensures the repair blends seamlessly.
Before I fix any damage on a sink, I always assess how serious the damage is to determine the right repair approach. When dealing with a few chips or scratches, I can fix them quickly with a chip repair that takes about 1-2 hours. In cases of more significant damage that spans a larger area, it’s best to resurface the entire sink. For a large crack or hole, I can repair it, but I might suggest replacing the sink due to potential structural issues. If I proceed with the repair in this situation, I cannot provide a guarantee. But rest assured, this is an unlikely worst-case scenario.
The average sink repair takes only 1-2 hours. This is a lot quicker than having to remove and replace your sink. Should you choose to resurface your sink, it will take about a day, as I must carefully mask off the surrounding room to prevent overspray. Once again, resurfacing is far quicker and more cost-effective than removing and replacing your sink. I’ve successfully restored many antique sinks, resurfacing them to look like new. Antique sinks typically feature intricate detailing that is not found on most modern sinks. I’m here to assist if your sink needs saving.
Every repair I do is completed to a high standard, ensuring it lasts and blends in with regular use. If you were to shine a torch over the surface, you might notice something, but this isn't something you'd typically do while using your sink. Be cautious of any repair companies that promise an invisible repair, as no reputable business would make such a guarantee.
Repairing your sink rather than replacing it will save you time, money, and is better for the environment. When you repair and restore your sink, you’ll avoid contributing more waste to your local landfill.
Some customers have asked about DIY Repair Kits and whether they can handle their repairs themselves. The problem with DIY Repair Kits is that the materials are of poor quality, leading to a repair that won't last. Another problem is that the basic tinter included makes it difficult to achieve a true colour match. If you want to try it yourself, that’s fine, but I’ll be here for a professional repair when you ask.
How long can I expect my sink repair to last?
Each of my sink repairs is backed by a 12-month guarantee. Sink repairs should last for as long as the rest of the sink itself, and in the unlikely event that one of our repairs fails, it will do so within the first 12 months. If there’s structural or extensive damage, I can’t offer a guarantee, but I will inform you of this before proceeding with the repair. In these cases, I usually recommend replacing the sink, but if you prefer to keep your original sink, we can still help with the repair.
