It’s common for sinks to need repairs due to the daily wear and tear they experience. Accidents like dropping glass bottles, pots, and pans can lead to chips and cracks on your sink. Harsh cleaning products gradually dull the surface of your sink, making it harder to maintain and clean. With years of experience repairing sinks, I also offer full sink restorations through resurfacing. I do all my repairs on-site, and a typical sink repair only takes 1-2 hours. In just 24 hours, you can use your sink again, avoiding the hassle and cost of replacement. Repairing and resurfacing your sink is the most economical way to restore it to like-new condition without replacing it. I guarantee all my sink repairs for 12 months, and I’m fully insured for your peace of mind. Your sink will be restored to its original condition in no time!
One of the most important parts of a great sink repair is to accurately colour match the new enamel paint to your existing sink. On the day of the repair, I mix different tinters into the standard white enamel paint by eye until it matches your sink’s shade exactly. A mismatch in the paint will make the repair noticeable. Through years of experience, I’ve mastered this specialised skill in sink repairs. Although sinks are often white, the specific shade of white can vary considerably. Different brands use different shades of white, and factors like age, usage, and exposure to chemicals or sunlight can all change the shade. Getting the exact colour match is crucial, so I’m very careful when doing repairs. If you decide to resurface your entire sink, I will apply a brilliant white finish to restore its original look.
I always use professional-grade materials that aren't available at your local DIY store. I use only the highest quality bonder and enamel paint to ensure all repairs stand the test of time. Since I’ve been using the same materials for years, I can trust that they create lasting, high-quality repairs every time. Unlike other companies that use cheaper materials, I only use top-quality products to ensure repairs won’t fail. Every repair I do comes with a 12-month guarantee, unless stated otherwise.
I begin a sink repair by applying a special bonder to the affected area and filling in the damage. I then colour match the new paint to your sink and apply another layer of bonder before spraying on the new enamel. The use of a fine spray gun helps the new surface blend into the existing sink, creating a seamless repair.
Before I fix any damage on a sink, I always assess how serious the damage is to determine the right repair approach. If there are just a few chips or scratches, then I can do a simple chip repair that only takes about 1-2 hours. If the damage is extensive and affects a large portion of the sink, resurfacing the whole sink would be the most effective solution. If the sink has a large crack or hole, I can repair it, but it might be better to replace the sink if it's leading to structural concerns. In this case, any repair I do will not come with a guarantee. But this is the worst-case scenario.
The majority of my sink repairs will only take about 1-2 hours. This is much faster than removing your sink and replacing it. Should you choose to resurface your sink, it will take about a day, as I must carefully mask off the surrounding room to prevent overspray. Even so, this is still much faster and more affordable than replacing your sink. I have done a lot of work restoring antique sinks to look brand new again by resurfacing them. Antique sinks often have intricate detailing and unique features that modern sinks lack. If you need a sink restored or repaired, I’m here to help.
My repairs are always done to the highest standard, ensuring longevity and that they remain inconspicuous with regular use. While it’s possible to see something with a torch, it’s not common to use one when you’re using the sink as intended. Be cautious of any repair companies that promise an invisible repair, as no reputable business would make such a guarantee.
Choosing to repair your sink instead of replacing it will save both money and time, and it’s a more environmentally friendly option. You won’t be adding more waste to your local landfill site when you choose to repair and restore your sink.
I’ve been asked by customers if DIY Repair Kits are a good option for repairing their sinks. The issue with DIY Repair Kits is that they include low-quality materials, which means the repair won’t last. Another problem is that the basic tinter included makes it difficult to achieve a true colour match. You can absolutely give it a try if you feel confident, but I’ll be here to do a professional repair when you ask me.
How long will a sink repair last?
My sink repairs are all guaranteed for 12 months. Sink repairs should last for as long as the rest of the sink itself, and in the unlikely event that one of our repairs fails, it will do so within the first 12 months. In cases of structural or extensive damage, I can’t provide a guarantee, but I’ll make sure to let you know before proceeding. I often recommend replacing the sink when this happens, but if you wish to keep your original sink, we can still repair it.
