It’s common for sinks to need repairs due to the daily wear and tear they experience. Accidental drops of glass bottles, pots, pans, etc, can all cause chips and cracks to the surface of your sink. Things like using harsh cleaners and soaps will slowly erode the shiny surface of your sink, making dirt stick to it and compromising its top layer. I have been repairing sinks for many years and can also do full sink restorations by resurfacing the whole surface of your sink when needed. All of my work is done in-situ, and a normal sink repair will only take about 1-2 hours! You’ll be able to use your sink again 24 hours later, saving you time and money on having it replaced. Repairing and resurfacing is the most affordable way to restore your sink’s appearance without replacing it. My sink repairs are guaranteed for 12 months and I’m fully insured. Your sink will be looking brand new again in no time!
A key element of a top-quality sink repair is ensuring the new enamel paint matches your existing sink perfectly. The colour matching is done by eye, mixing various tinters into the standard white enamel paint until it perfectly matches your sink. When the new paint isn’t a perfect match, the repair will be visible. I’ve refined this specialised skill over many years of experience. Even though most sinks are white, there is a huge variation in what shade of white your sink may be. Manufacturers use varying shades of white, and the sink’s age, usage, and exposure to chemicals or sunlight will affect its shade. It’s important to get an accurate colour match, and I’m very meticulous in doing so. If you opt for a full sink resurfacing, I’ll spray it with a brilliant white finish to make it look as good as new.
The materials I use are high-quality and not available in your typical DIY store. I’ve sourced the best quality bonder and enamel paint to ensure all my repairs last. Since I’ve been using the same materials for years, I can trust that they create lasting, high-quality repairs every time. Some other companies cut corners by using cheaper materials, but this could lead to repairs failing and poor results. I offer a 12-month guarantee on all my repairs, unless otherwise noted.
The initial step in my sink repair process is to apply a unique bonder to the damaged area and then fill the damage. Once I’ve matched the paint, I apply a second layer of bonder and then spray on the enamel. I use a fine spray gun to apply the new surface, which ensures the repair blends seamlessly.
Whenever I encounter damage on a sink, I have to make sure I know how bad the damage is so I can determine the best way to fix it. In cases of minor chips or scratches, I can perform a quick chip repair that usually takes around 1-2 hours. If the damage is extensive and affects a large portion of the sink, resurfacing the whole sink would be the most effective solution. If there’s a large crack or hole in the sink, I can still repair it, but I may recommend replacing the sink instead, as it could be causing structural issues. In this case, if I do the repair, I wouldn’t be able to offer a guarantee on it. This situation is the worst-case scenario.
Most sink repairs I perform take around 1-2 hours. This is much faster than removing your sink and replacing it. Should you choose to resurface your sink, it will take about a day, as I must carefully mask off the surrounding room to prevent overspray. Again, this is still so much faster and cheaper than ripping out and replacing your sink. I have experience restoring antique sinks and resurfacing them to make them look brand new. Old antique sinks have beautiful details and features that are hard to find in modern models. If you have a sink that needs attention, I’m here to provide help.
Every repair I do is completed to a high standard, ensuring it lasts and blends in with regular use. If you were to shine a torch over the surface, you might notice something, but this isn't something you'd typically do while using your sink. Any reputable repair company will not guarantee an invisible repair, so be cautious of those who do as they likely won’t last long.
Choosing to repair your sink instead of replacing it will save both money and time, and it’s a more environmentally friendly option. When you repair and restore your sink, you’ll avoid contributing more waste to your local landfill.
I’ve had customers ask if DIY Repair Kits would work for their sink repairs. DIY Repair Kits often include poor-quality materials that won’t provide a lasting repair. It’s hard to achieve a true colour match with the basic tinter that’s supplied in these kits. Feel free to try it yourself if you feel up to it, but I’ll be here for a professional repair when you’re ready.
How durable is a sink repair?
All of my sink repairs come with a 12-month guarantee. A proper sink repair should last as long as the rest of the sink, and if one of our repairs fails, it will most likely happen within the first 12 months. In cases of structural or extensive damage, I can’t provide a guarantee, but I’ll make sure to let you know before proceeding. When this happens, I usually recommend replacing the sink, but if you want to keep your original sink, we can still help you repair it.
