Ceramic sinks are more porous than composite or porcelain, which means that when they chip or crack, it's important to repair them immediately to prevent water absorption and further damage like mould. Chips and cracks are easily fixed with our step-by-step repair process. With years of experience, we can get your ceramic sink back to its best in no time. As we are based in Ballyclare, we can respond quickly to your ceramic sink repair needs.
1. We’ll inspect the damage to your sink and decide on the best repair method.
2. We use a specialised bonder on the damaged area to ensure the next layer adheres effectively. 3. We fill and sand down the damaged area to ensure the surface is smooth and free of bumps. 4. Another layer of bonder is now applied over the filler. 5. The technician will now colour match the new enamel to your sink and spray this on using a fine spray gun. 6. Allow it to cure and set for 24 hours.
Made from a mixture of high-quality clay, ceramic sinks are fired at very high temperatures and then coated with a durable, non-porous glaze or enamel porcelain coating.
We aim to achieve a high-quality expert repair to your ceramic sink that you won't be able to notice with normal usage.
We use materials that guarantee a long-lasting repair, capable of withstanding the normal usage expected of sinks, baths, and shower trays. Repairing and blending the damage into the surface requires skill to ensure the repair is as seamless as possible. Repairing your sink is far more cost-effective than replacing it, and it minimizes the disruption compared to a full replacement. If the damage is severe, resurfacing may be recommended, but for structural damage, replacement is often the best solution. DIY Repair Kits will not create a lasting repair as the materials that are provided are not good quality and it will be very hard to get a colour match. We do not recommend trying these as they end up being a waste of money. It's obviously up to you if you want to try it, but there is a reason why we are still in business as a professional repair company. How long does it typically take to complete the repair?
For a simple chip repair or two, it should take about 1-2 hours to do the repair. For a larger crack repair or hole repair, then this will take longer, and a sink resurfacing will take about 4-5 hours to complete. With all our repairs, they need to be left for 24 hours before using the sink so the repair can fully cure and harden.
