These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. With cast-iron baths, the removal process requires breaking them apart due to their weight, causing damage to your bathroom’s structure. Even with lighter acrylic baths, removal can lead to damage to the rest of your bathroom. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. When you choose to restore your bath you are choosing the most environmentally friendly option as you won't be contributing to the vast amount of construction waste that gets produced on a daily basis. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! Resurfacing is a simple and effective solution for worn, chipped, or scratched metal baths, making them look new and strong again. With acrylic baths, their lifespan is not as long as traditional metal baths but they are still able to be resurfaced to a great result. When fixing chips and scratches, I match the color to your bath’s surface, but for re-enamelling or resurfacing, I use a new white enamel finish.

The materials I use to resurface your bath are professional grade that are only available on a commercial basis. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. To ensure proper resurfacing, I use an adhesive bonder that bonds the new surface firmly to the original bath. The specialized bonder I use provides the strongest and most lasting bond for bath resurfacing. I have been using my preferred materials for many years so I know that they work and create the highest standard of repairs.

All of my resurfacing work is done in-situ, so you will never have to remove your bath and transport it to me, then have it delivered back and installed again. By working in-situ, I minimize disruption to you—only needing one day of work in your bathroom before I’m done. Vitreous enamel involves coating your bath in powdered glass and fusing it onto the surface using a kiln at high temperatures. This service could never be offered in-situ due to the extreme heat involved and I don't know of many companies that are able to offer this any more for baths.
