It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. When it comes to baths, getting rid of the old one isn’t a quick or easy task. Cast-iron baths weigh a ton and have to be smashed apart to be able to carry the pieces out of your house, and this obviously causes damage to the rest of your bathroom. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. You'll have to re-do the tiling around the bath, have the taps and waste re-fitted, and potentially get new flooring done. When you choose to restore your bath you are choosing the most environmentally friendly option as you won't be contributing to the vast amount of construction waste that gets produced on a daily basis. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! When their surface becomes dull and tired, chipped, scratched, etc, it is so easy to resurface them so they look brand new again and you'll have a perfect and strong bath in no time. While acrylic baths have a shorter lifespan than metal baths, resurfacing them gives great results. For individual repairs like chips and scratches, I color match the repair to your bath, but with re-enamelling or resurfacing, I use a fresh white enamel to respray the entire surface.

I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. The specialized bonder I use provides the strongest and most lasting bond for bath resurfacing. You may be familiar with Vitreous enamel, a specialized process where powdered glass is fused to the bath’s surface in a high-temperature kiln. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
