Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. The specialized bonder I use provides the strongest and most lasting bond for bath resurfacing. There’s no need to remove your bath or deal with complicated transport, as all of my resurfacing work is done in-situ. Vitreous enamel is a specialized technique in which powdered glass is fused onto your bath at high temperatures in a kiln. Due to the high temperatures involved, vitreous enamel can’t be performed in-situ, and it’s becoming increasingly rare among companies.
