It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. When it comes to baths, getting rid of the old one isn’t a quick or easy task. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. By restoring your bath, you’re choosing an environmentally responsible option, reducing construction waste. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! With individual repairs, I match the paint to your bath’s surface, but when resurfacing or re-enamelling, I apply a brilliant white enamel to the whole surface.

I only use top-grade materials, exclusively available for commercial use, to resurface your bath. You can’t simply apply regular white paint to resurface your bath. A key step of successful resurfacing is using an adhesive bonder to bond the new surface to your original bath. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. Due to the high temperatures involved, vitreous enamel can’t be performed in-situ, and it’s becoming increasingly rare among companies.
