In today’s consumer culture, we often choose to replace over repair, but when it comes to baths, it’s not so easy. Getting rid of an old bath is not as straightforward as many people think. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter and easier to move, but removing them can still damage your bathroom. Removing the bath means you’ll have to replace the tiling, reinstall taps and waste, and maybe even redo the flooring. The materials I use for bath resurfacing are professional-grade, specifically sourced for commercial applications. You simply can't just use normal white paint to paint the surface. One of the crucial steps for effective resurfacing is applying an adhesive bonder to attach the new surface to your original bath. I complete all resurfacing work in-situ, so there’s no need to remove and transport your bath for repair. Vitreous enamel involves coating your bath in powdered glass and fusing it onto the surface using a kiln at high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
