These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. Opting to restore your bath helps you avoid contributing to the large amount of construction waste produced every day. Metal baths are often classic features of older homes and can last for many decades. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. A key step of successful resurfacing is using an adhesive bonder to bond the new surface to your original bath.
