In today’s world, replacing items with new ones is easy, but when it comes to baths, it’s not as straightforward. With baths, it's actually not that easy to get rid of the old one. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter and easier to move, but removing them can still damage your bathroom. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. Restoring your bath is the most eco-friendly choice, preventing the additional waste generated from removing and replacing it. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! A quick resurfacing restores dull, chipped, or scratched metal baths to look brand new, providing a durable finish. Acrylic baths may not last as long as metal baths, but they can still be resurfaced to great effect. When I repair individual chips and scratches on baths I have to colour match the repair to the surface of your bath, but with bath re-enamelling or bath resurfacing as I am respraying the whole surface I just use a new brilliant white enamel paint.

Vitreous enamel is a specialized technique in which powdered glass is fused onto your bath at high temperatures in a kiln. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
