Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. After removal, redoing the tiling, reinstalling taps and drains, and potentially replacing the flooring are necessary. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. Due to the extreme heat required, this service can’t be done in-situ, and few companies offer it these days.
