In this day and age, it is so easy to buy something new and throw away the old one rather than trying to have it repaired or restored. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. Removing cast-iron baths involves breaking them down due to their weight, leading to potential damage to the rest of your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter and easier to move, but removing them can still damage your bathroom. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. By restoring your bath, you’re choosing an environmentally responsible option, reducing construction waste. Traditional metal baths are common in older houses and can last for decades with proper maintenance. When fixing chips and scratches, I match the color to your bath’s surface, but for re-enamelling or resurfacing, I use a new white enamel finish.

I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. You can’t simply apply regular white paint to resurface your bath. A key step of successful resurfacing is using an adhesive bonder to bond the new surface to your original bath. I use a highly specialized bonder that ensures the most durable and lasting results for your bath. All resurfacing is done directly in your bathroom, so you won’t have to remove your bath and deal with the hassle of transport and reinstallation. Vitreous enamel involves coating your bath in powdered glass and fusing it onto the surface using a kiln at high temperatures. Due to the high temperatures involved, vitreous enamel can’t be performed in-situ, and it’s becoming increasingly rare among companies.
