In today’s world, replacing items with new ones is easy, but when it comes to baths, it’s not as straightforward. With baths, it's actually not that easy to get rid of the old one. Cast-iron baths are extremely heavy and must be broken apart for removal, which often results in damage to your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. Removing the bath means you’ll have to replace the tiling, reinstall taps and waste, and maybe even redo the flooring. When you choose to restore your bath you are choosing the most environmentally friendly option as you won't be contributing to the vast amount of construction waste that gets produced on a daily basis. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
