It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Even with lighter acrylic baths, removal can lead to damage to the rest of your bathroom. After removal, redoing the tiling, reinstalling taps and drains, and potentially replacing the flooring are necessary. Restoring your bath instead of replacing it helps cut down on daily construction waste, making it a more sustainable option. Metal baths are a lasting feature of older homes, providing durability for decades. When the surface of metal baths gets worn, chipped, or scratched, resurfacing makes them look brand new again, restoring strength and beauty. When I repair individual chips and scratches on baths I have to colour match the repair to the surface of your bath, but with bath re-enamelling or bath resurfacing as I am respraying the whole surface I just use a new brilliant white enamel paint.

The materials I use to resurface your bath are professional grade that are only available on a commercial basis. You simply can't just use normal white paint to paint the surface. To ensure proper resurfacing, I use an adhesive bonder that bonds the new surface firmly to the original bath. I’ve sourced a unique bonder that ensures the resurfaced surface lasts longer and stays durable. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. Due to the high temperatures involved, vitreous enamel can’t be performed in-situ, and it’s becoming increasingly rare among companies.
