It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. Getting rid of an old bath is not as straightforward as many people think. Cast-iron baths weigh a ton and have to be smashed apart to be able to carry the pieces out of your house, and this obviously causes damage to the rest of your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter, making removal easier, but still cause damage to your bathroom when removed. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. By restoring your bath, you’re choosing an environmentally responsible option, reducing construction waste. Metal baths are often classic features of older homes and can last for many decades. When the surface of metal baths gets worn, chipped, or scratched, resurfacing makes them look brand new again, restoring strength and beauty. Acrylic baths may not last as long as metal baths, but they can still be resurfaced to great effect. For individual repairs like chips and scratches, I color match the repair to your bath, but with re-enamelling or resurfacing, I use a fresh white enamel to respray the entire surface.

I only use top-grade materials, exclusively available for commercial use, to resurface your bath. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. To ensure proper resurfacing, I use an adhesive bonder that bonds the new surface firmly to the original bath. I have sourced a very specialised bonder which creates the most lasting results possible. There’s no need to remove your bath or deal with complicated transport, as all of my resurfacing work is done in-situ. Vitreous enamel is a unique process where powdered glass is fused to the surface of the bath at extremely high temperatures in a kiln. Due to the extreme heat required, this service can’t be done in-situ, and few companies offer it these days.
