In today’s consumer culture, we often choose to replace over repair, but when it comes to baths, it’s not so easy. Getting rid of an old bath is not as straightforward as many people think. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Even with lighter acrylic baths, removal can lead to damage to the rest of your bathroom. Removing the bath means you’ll have to replace the tiling, reinstall taps and waste, and maybe even redo the flooring. Restoring your bath is the most eco-friendly choice, preventing the additional waste generated from removing and replacing it. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! Resurfacing is a simple and effective solution for worn, chipped, or scratched metal baths, making them look new and strong again. Acrylic baths may not last as long as metal baths, but they can still be resurfaced to great effect. For individual repairs like chips and scratches, I color match the repair to your bath, but with re-enamelling or resurfacing, I use a fresh white enamel to respray the entire surface.

I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. Resurfacing a bath requires more than just white paint—it involves specific materials designed for the task. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. I have sourced a very specialised bonder which creates the most lasting results possible. I have been using my preferred materials for many years so I know that they work and create the highest standard of repairs.

All of my resurfacing work is done in-situ, so you will never have to remove your bath and transport it to me, then have it delivered back and installed again. My in-situ resurfacing allows me to complete the job within a day, so you’ll be back to normal quickly. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. Due to the high temperatures involved, vitreous enamel can’t be performed in-situ, and it’s becoming increasingly rare among companies.
