These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. It’s not easy to dispose of an old bath, especially depending on its material. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter, making removal easier, but still cause damage to your bathroom when removed. Removing the bath means you’ll have to replace the tiling, reinstall taps and waste, and maybe even redo the flooring. Restoring your bath instead of replacing it helps cut down on daily construction waste, making it a more sustainable option. Many older homes feature metal baths that can last a lifetime with the right care. When their surface becomes dull and tired, chipped, scratched, etc, it is so easy to resurface them so they look brand new again and you'll have a perfect and strong bath in no time. Acrylic baths may not last as long as metal baths, but they can still be resurfaced to great effect. For individual repairs like chips and scratches, I color match the repair to your bath, but with re-enamelling or resurfacing, I use a fresh white enamel to respray the entire surface.

I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. Resurfacing a bath requires more than just white paint—it involves specific materials designed for the task. To ensure proper resurfacing, I use an adhesive bonder that bonds the new surface firmly to the original bath. All of my resurfacing work is done in-situ, so you will never have to remove your bath and transport it to me, then have it delivered back and installed again. You may be familiar with Vitreous enamel, a specialized process where powdered glass is fused to the bath’s surface in a high-temperature kiln. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
