In today’s world, replacing items with new ones is easy, but when it comes to baths, it’s not as straightforward. It’s not easy to dispose of an old bath, especially depending on its material. Cast-iron baths are extremely heavy and must be broken apart for removal, which often results in damage to your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. You'll have to re-do the tiling around the bath, have the taps and waste re-fitted, and potentially get new flooring done. When you choose to restore your bath you are choosing the most environmentally friendly option as you won't be contributing to the vast amount of construction waste that gets produced on a daily basis. Traditional metal baths are common in older houses and can last for decades with proper maintenance. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. Vitreous enamel is a specialized technique in which powdered glass is fused onto your bath at high temperatures in a kiln. Vitreous enamel resurfacing requires extreme heat, which means it can’t be done in-situ and is rarely offered by companies now.
