It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. It’s not easy to dispose of an old bath, especially depending on its material. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. You'll have to re-do the tiling around the bath, have the taps and waste re-fitted, and potentially get new flooring done. Vitreous enamel is a specialized technique in which powdered glass is fused onto your bath at high temperatures in a kiln. Due to the high temperatures involved, vitreous enamel can’t be performed in-situ, and it’s becoming increasingly rare among companies.
