These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. When it comes to baths, getting rid of the old one isn’t a quick or easy task. Cast-iron baths weigh a ton and have to be smashed apart to be able to carry the pieces out of your house, and this obviously causes damage to the rest of your bathroom. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. You'll have to re-do the tiling around the bath, have the taps and waste re-fitted, and potentially get new flooring done. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
