In this day and age, it is so easy to buy something new and throw away the old one rather than trying to have it repaired or restored. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. Cast-iron baths weigh a ton and have to be smashed apart to be able to carry the pieces out of your house, and this obviously causes damage to the rest of your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter and easier to move, but removing them can still damage your bathroom. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. Restoring your bath is the most eco-friendly choice, preventing the additional waste generated from removing and replacing it. Traditional metal baths are common in older houses and can last for decades with proper maintenance. The materials I use to resurface your bath are professional grade that are only available on a commercial basis. You can’t simply apply regular white paint to resurface your bath. To ensure proper resurfacing, I use an adhesive bonder that bonds the new surface firmly to the original bath. I have sourced a very specialised bonder which creates the most lasting results possible.
