With bath re-enamelling (or resurfacing), we apply a new surface to your bath, making it look brand new once again. No need to change your bath installation, as all work is completed directly in your bathroom. The special enamel I use hardens and cures in 24 hours, ensuring your bath is ready for use the following day. I take care of filling in chips, scratches, and other repairs so that the final surface is smooth and flawless once the enamel is applied. I resurface all types of baths including cast-iron, metal, and acrylic baths. It only takes a day to do this procedure, which is much faster and cheaper than replacing your bath. My bath resurfacing is guaranteed for 12 months.
These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. Getting rid of an old bath is not as straightforward as many people think. Cast-iron baths are extremely heavy and must be broken apart for removal, which often results in damage to your bathroom. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. Removing your bath means redoing the tiling, refitting taps, and possibly replacing flooring, making it a costly and disruptive process. Restoring your bath instead of replacing it helps cut down on daily construction waste, making it a more sustainable option. Many older homes feature metal baths that can last a lifetime with the right care. A quick resurfacing restores dull, chipped, or scratched metal baths to look brand new, providing a durable finish. While acrylic baths have a shorter lifespan than metal baths, resurfacing them gives great results. When I repair individual chips and scratches on baths I have to colour match the repair to the surface of your bath, but with bath re-enamelling or bath resurfacing as I am respraying the whole surface I just use a new brilliant white enamel paint.
I only use top-grade materials, exclusively available for commercial use, to resurface your bath. Regular paint won’t do the job for bath resurfacing; the right materials are essential for success. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. The bonder I use is specifically sourced to guarantee the best, long-lasting outcomes. The materials I use have been trusted by me for years, and they provide unmatched results in bath resurfacing.
There’s no need to remove your bath or deal with complicated transport, as all of my resurfacing work is done in-situ. By working in-situ, I minimize disruption to you—only needing one day of work in your bathroom before I’m done. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. Due to the high temperatures involved, vitreous enamel can’t be performed in-situ, and it’s becoming increasingly rare among companies.
If your bath is badly chipped and dented, I will repair this first to ensure the surface is smooth and flat before resurfacing it. Repairs to chips and dents are included in the resurfacing service with no additional cost. I can resurface most baths, so contact me today to see if I can restore yours in Cathcart.
1. I’ll carefully mask the bathroom and surrounding areas to protect them during the resurfacing process.
2. I will sand off the top surface of the bath to take it back to the metal. 3. After applying our special bonder, I will fill in any holes, chips, or cracks that need attention. 4. I will then apply another layer of bonder over this. 5. Now I will spray on the new enamel surface to your bath. 6. After spraying, I’ll buff the enamel to achieve a flawless shine. 7. You’ll need to wait 24 hours before using your bath, and it will be as good as new!
Typically, re-enamelling or resurfacing a bath takes between 5 and 7 hours. A significant portion of the time is spent masking and protecting all surrounding surfaces to prevent overspray. Masking and protection are vital to ensure no damage occurs to your bathroom. If your bath has lots of chips and dents then these also have to be filled in and repaired before the new enamel surface is sprayed on as you won't get a good result if the bath isn't repaired first. If there’s damage to repair, it can extend the process slightly compared to a bath without damage.
Having resurfaced baths for many years, I have the expertise to make your bath look brand new again. Re-enamelling will give your bath a fresh, new look and feel, making it look like new again.
Choosing to resurface your bath rather than replace it is a cost-effective, time-saving, and environmentally conscious decision. Restoring your bath helps minimize environmental impact by preventing additional waste in landfills. I can handle any chip repairs, crack repairs, and scratch repairs needed as part of the resurfacing.
I use the highest quality materials available, so don't think you can get the same result as me by painting your bath yourself with something from your local DIY shop. For the last 10 years, I’ve been using the same high-quality materials that deliver reliable, long-lasting results.
