In today’s world, replacing items with new ones is easy, but when it comes to baths, it’s not as straightforward. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. After removal, redoing the tiling, reinstalling taps and drains, and potentially replacing the flooring are necessary. When you choose to restore your bath you are choosing the most environmentally friendly option as you won't be contributing to the vast amount of construction waste that gets produced on a daily basis. Traditional metal baths are common in older houses and can last for decades with proper maintenance. Resurfacing is a simple and effective solution for worn, chipped, or scratched metal baths, making them look new and strong again. Though acrylic baths have a shorter lifespan than metal baths, resurfacing restores them to a like-new condition. The materials I use to resurface your bath are professional grade that are only available on a commercial basis. Resurfacing a bath requires more than just white paint—it involves specific materials designed for the task. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. I have sourced a very specialised bonder which creates the most lasting results possible. Vitreous enamel is a specialized technique in which powdered glass is fused onto your bath at high temperatures in a kiln. This service could never be offered in-situ due to the extreme heat involved and I don't know of many companies that are able to offer this any more for baths.
