These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. It’s not easy to dispose of an old bath, especially depending on its material. Removing cast-iron baths involves breaking them down due to their weight, leading to potential damage to the rest of your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter, making removal easier, but still cause damage to your bathroom when removed. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. When you choose to restore your bath you are choosing the most environmentally friendly option as you won't be contributing to the vast amount of construction waste that gets produced on a daily basis. Metal baths are often classic features of older homes and can last for many decades. Resurfacing is a simple and effective solution for worn, chipped, or scratched metal baths, making them look new and strong again. Acrylic baths may not last as long as metal baths, but they can still be resurfaced to great effect. With individual repairs, I match the paint to your bath’s surface, but when resurfacing or re-enamelling, I apply a brilliant white enamel to the whole surface.

I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. You simply can't just use normal white paint to paint the surface. A key step of successful resurfacing is using an adhesive bonder to bond the new surface to your original bath. The specialized bonder I use provides the strongest and most lasting bond for bath resurfacing. Vitreous enamel involves coating your bath in powdered glass and fusing it onto the surface using a kiln at high temperatures. Vitreous enamel resurfacing requires extreme heat, which means it can’t be done in-situ and is rarely offered by companies now.
