In today’s world, replacing items with new ones is easy, but when it comes to baths, it’s not as straightforward. It’s not easy to dispose of an old bath, especially depending on its material. Cast-iron baths weigh a ton and have to be smashed apart to be able to carry the pieces out of your house, and this obviously causes damage to the rest of your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter, making removal easier, but still cause damage to your bathroom when removed. For resurfacing your bath, I rely on high-quality, professional materials that are reserved for commercial use. You can’t simply apply regular white paint to resurface your bath. A key step of successful resurfacing is using an adhesive bonder to bond the new surface to your original bath. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
