In today’s consumer culture, we often choose to replace over repair, but when it comes to baths, it’s not so easy. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. With cast-iron baths, the removal process requires breaking them apart due to their weight, causing damage to your bathroom’s structure. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. Opting to restore your bath helps you avoid contributing to the large amount of construction waste produced every day. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! When the surface of metal baths gets worn, chipped, or scratched, resurfacing makes them look brand new again, restoring strength and beauty. I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. Resurfacing a bath requires more than just white paint—it involves specific materials designed for the task. A key step of successful resurfacing is using an adhesive bonder to bond the new surface to your original bath. The specialized bonder I use provides the strongest and most lasting bond for bath resurfacing. All resurfacing is done directly in your bathroom, so you won’t have to remove your bath and deal with the hassle of transport and reinstallation. You may be familiar with Vitreous enamel, a specialized process where powdered glass is fused to the bath’s surface in a high-temperature kiln. This service could never be offered in-situ due to the extreme heat involved and I don't know of many companies that are able to offer this any more for baths.
