Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. After removal, redoing the tiling, reinstalling taps and drains, and potentially replacing the flooring are necessary. Vitreous enamel is a unique process where powdered glass is fused to the surface of the bath at extremely high temperatures in a kiln. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
