It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. Cast-iron baths are extremely heavy and must be broken apart for removal, which often results in damage to your bathroom. Even with lighter acrylic baths, removal can lead to damage to the rest of your bathroom. You'll have to re-do the tiling around the bath, have the taps and waste re-fitted, and potentially get new flooring done. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. Vitreous enamel resurfacing requires extreme heat, which means it can’t be done in-situ and is rarely offered by companies now.
