It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. Getting rid of an old bath is not as straightforward as many people think. With cast-iron baths, the removal process requires breaking them apart due to their weight, causing damage to your bathroom’s structure. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. Restoring your bath instead of replacing it helps cut down on daily construction waste, making it a more sustainable option. Metal baths are often classic features of older homes and can last for many decades. Resurfacing is a simple and effective solution for worn, chipped, or scratched metal baths, making them look new and strong again. Though acrylic baths have a shorter lifespan than metal baths, resurfacing restores them to a like-new condition. I only use top-grade materials, exclusively available for commercial use, to resurface your bath. You can’t simply apply regular white paint to resurface your bath. One of the crucial steps for effective resurfacing is applying an adhesive bonder to attach the new surface to your original bath. The specialized bonder I use provides the strongest and most lasting bond for bath resurfacing. Vitreous enamel is a unique process where powdered glass is fused to the surface of the bath at extremely high temperatures in a kiln. Vitreous enamel resurfacing requires extreme heat, which means it can’t be done in-situ and is rarely offered by companies now.
