In today’s world, replacing items with new ones is easy, but when it comes to baths, it’s not as straightforward. Getting rid of an old bath is not as straightforward as many people think. With cast-iron baths, the removal process requires breaking them apart due to their weight, causing damage to your bathroom’s structure. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. Once removed, you’ll need to re-tile around the bath, refit taps and drains, and possibly replace flooring. Restoring your bath is the most eco-friendly choice, preventing the additional waste generated from removing and replacing it. Metal baths are often classic features of older homes and can last for many decades. When a metal bath shows signs of wear, resurfacing is a quick and effective way to restore it to its original condition. Acrylic baths might not last as long as metal ones, but resurfacing them still provides impressive results. I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. You simply can't just use normal white paint to paint the surface. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. I have sourced a very specialised bonder which creates the most lasting results possible. All of my resurfacing work is done in-situ, so you will never have to remove your bath and transport it to me, then have it delivered back and installed again. This way there is minimal disruption to you as I will only need to be working in your bathroom for a day before I'm out of your hair again. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
