It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. When it comes to baths, getting rid of the old one isn’t a quick or easy task. Cast-iron baths are so heavy that they have to be smashed to pieces before being carried out, which can lead to damage throughout your bathroom. Although acrylic baths are easier to remove, the process still causes damage to surrounding areas in your bathroom. You'll have to re-do the tiling around the bath, have the taps and waste re-fitted, and potentially get new flooring done. Restoring your bath instead of replacing it helps cut down on daily construction waste, making it a more sustainable option. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! When a metal bath shows signs of wear, resurfacing is a quick and effective way to restore it to its original condition. Acrylic baths may not last as long as metal baths, but they can still be resurfaced to great effect. When fixing chips and scratches, I match the color to your bath’s surface, but for re-enamelling or resurfacing, I use a new white enamel finish.

I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. The use of an adhesive bonder is critical in resurfacing to create a solid bond between the new layer and the original bath. The specialized bonder I use provides the strongest and most lasting bond for bath resurfacing. All resurfacing is done directly in your bathroom, so you won’t have to remove your bath and deal with the hassle of transport and reinstallation. This way there is minimal disruption to you as I will only need to be working in your bathroom for a day before I'm out of your hair again. Vitreous enamel involves coating your bath in powdered glass and fusing it onto the surface using a kiln at high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
