These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. It’s not easy to dispose of an old bath, especially depending on its material. Cast-iron baths are extremely heavy and must be broken apart for removal, which often results in damage to your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. Removing your bath means redoing the tiling, refitting taps, and possibly replacing flooring, making it a costly and disruptive process. By restoring your bath, you’re choosing an environmentally responsible option, reducing construction waste. Metal baths are usually original features of older houses, and they will last for decades! I use commercial-grade materials to resurface your bath, which are not available to the general public. It’s impossible to use ordinary white paint for resurfacing your bath; it requires specialized materials. To ensure proper resurfacing, I use an adhesive bonder that bonds the new surface firmly to the original bath. The bonder I use is specifically sourced to guarantee the best, long-lasting outcomes. You may have heard of Vitreous enamel - this is a specialised procedure where the bath is coated in a powdered glass material and then this is fused onto the surface of your bath in a large kiln at very high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
