It’s become second nature to replace old items with new ones, but with baths, the process of removal and replacement is far more complicated. Removing an old bath isn’t as simple as it may seem. Cast-iron baths weigh a ton and have to be smashed apart to be able to carry the pieces out of your house, and this obviously causes damage to the rest of your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. Removing your bath means redoing the tiling, refitting taps, and possibly replacing flooring, making it a costly and disruptive process. Vitreous enamel involves coating your bath in powdered glass and fusing it onto the surface using a kiln at high temperatures. I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
