In this day and age, it is so easy to buy something new and throw away the old one rather than trying to have it repaired or restored. It’s not easy to dispose of an old bath, especially depending on its material. Removing cast-iron baths involves breaking them down due to their weight, leading to potential damage to the rest of your bathroom. Acrylic baths are lighter and easier to move, but removing them can still damage your bathroom. Removing the bath means you’ll have to replace the tiling, reinstall taps and waste, and maybe even redo the flooring. Restoring your bath is the most eco-friendly choice, preventing the additional waste generated from removing and replacing it. One of the crucial steps for effective resurfacing is applying an adhesive bonder to attach the new surface to your original bath. There’s no need to remove your bath or deal with complicated transport, as all of my resurfacing work is done in-situ. You may be familiar with Vitreous enamel, a specialized process where powdered glass is fused to the bath’s surface in a high-temperature kiln. Vitreous enamel resurfacing requires extreme heat, which means it can’t be done in-situ and is rarely offered by companies now.
