These days, it’s common to discard old items and buy new ones, but with baths, it’s not always that simple. Getting rid of an old bath is not as straightforward as many people think. Cast-iron baths are extremely heavy and must be broken apart for removal, which often results in damage to your bathroom. While acrylic baths are much lighter and can be carried out more easily, it will still cause damage to the rest of your bathroom if you have it removed. You'll have to re-do the tiling around the bath, have the taps and waste re-fitted, and potentially get new flooring done. Restoring your bath is the most eco-friendly choice, preventing the additional waste generated from removing and replacing it. Traditional metal baths are common in older houses and can last for decades with proper maintenance. When their surface becomes dull and tired, chipped, scratched, etc, it is so easy to resurface them so they look brand new again and you'll have a perfect and strong bath in no time. With acrylic baths, their lifespan is not as long as traditional metal baths but they are still able to be resurfaced to a great result. Repairing chips and scratches requires color matching, but with full bath resurfacing or re-enamelling, I apply a new white enamel for a flawless finish.

I’m not aware of many companies still offering this in-situ, as the extreme heat needed makes it impossible.
